St. Kitts - Beach Bars, Monkeys and Freshwater Showers!

St. Kitts and Nevis is the smallest sovereign state in the Americas, as well as the entire western hemisphere, but there's no shortage of culture and beauty! Just two volcanic rainforested rocks peaking from the sea, 42,000 inhabitants make this place, the "Islands that Brush the Clouds," home, and are literally the nicest people we've ever met.
Our visit to this awesome nation began on the northern rock of St. Christopher, or St. Kitts.

Me, Ben and Ruca hopped from one lazy beach anchorage to another along the coast of St. Kitts, hitting up beach bars and snack shacks, and lounging the days away. With Christmas approaching, holiday tunes with reggae beats blared from the restaurants, and lights and cheery decorations trailed up palm tree trunks.

One of our favorite joints was the laid-back, slow paced Reggae Beach Bar, complete with rescued monkeys, cold bottles of beer, and a freshwater outdoor shower... a real treat for cruisers like us!

The people of St. Kitts were the friendliest people we'd ever met. Not just in our travels but...like, ever, in our whole lives. Walking down the beach or in a restaurant, it wasn't uncommon for someone to stop you to say hello, to chat, ask where you're from and if you're enjoying the island. It reminded us of our small hometowns back in Missouri, where out-of-towners were approached with curiosity and hospitality. Folks moseyed along, chatting, greeting and laughing with one another, and it warmed our hearts.
If the lovely locals weren't enough, we were also ecstatic to meet up with some friends who happened to be in StK & N at the same time as us - our good buddies Rob and Crystal on Kairos (>>www.LetItBreeze.com<<), and our single hander friend Brent, who sails on Strider. We'd met these guys many moons ago, during our extended stay in >>Luperon, Dominican Republic<<, and were stoked to share some laughs, salty stories, and a few drinks.
We decided it was time to pack up and head south towards Nevis, for some good old fashioned dirty cruiser parties!
Hello Nevis!
Thanks for Reading,
Ben, Quinn and Ruca
