In November this year, Ben, Ruca and I set sail from Fajardo, Puerto Rico south. We were headed to the Virgin Islands, to tick something pretty awesome off our Bucket List - attending the infamous full moon festival in Trellis Bay, in the British Virgin Islands!

After a long and tough day of motor-sailing directly into the wind from Fajardo, we grabbed a mooring and collapsed in Trellis Bay for a good night's sleep. The next morning, bright eyed and bushy tailed, with our party pants on, we were exstatic to see Trellis Bay packed to the brim with boats, all gathering to celebrate the full moon festival hosted by the local businesses at the beach. Plus, November this year was a once-in-a-century SUPER moon, meaning the moon would be closer to earth than any other time for the next hundred years. Pretty awesome month to attend a full moon party!

We headed towards the beach to check out the local businesses, had a few drinks with our friend Brent (who single hands on his boat Strider) and even met the crazy-talented artist who runs his studio in Trellis Bay, and welds the gorgeous fire orbs for the celebrations!

As the sky grew dark, bonfres were lit inside the welded orbs to make for some serioulsy beautiful art.

Christmas lights curled up palm trees, live music blared from every bar, the artists gave demonstrations, fire dancers performed on the beach, and we even got a visit from a group of Mako Jumbies!

We had drinks, shared a lot of laughs, met cool sailors and travelers from all walks of life, and thoroughly enjoyed the humungous family sized hammock where we spent the majority of the night. I insist we must get one if we ever have a real backyard again! :)

We can definitely say this was one of our favorite experiences so far on our travels, and so happy we got to tick the Trellis Bay Full Moon Party off the list, and on a super moon at that! Thanks BVI, we love you! Same time next month???? ;)

Thanks for Reading,

Ben, Quinn and Ruca
