We're a Midwestern couple from Missouri, and had never sailed a day in our lives before we bought our boat and sailed around the Caribbean! So how did a couple from land locked Missouri get into sailing, you might ask? Well... BLOGS!
Thanks to the internet, we started watching other people following their dreams, sailing out into the world and writing about their experiences online. We thought, if they can do it, so can we! And...9 months later... we did!
We've all seen the popular, classic (and wonderful) blogs done by the Boat Galley, Lahowind and Windtraveler. But what about the newbies? Is there anyone starting out in their sailing adventure, like us? We want to share some of the newest and maybe lesser-known, but still very inspirational and informational writers coming to the scene this year.
Here's the up-and-coming sailing blogs we're hooked on in 2016!

Bo and Allison are a couple of newlyweds making their way around the Caribbean currently on their 42' ketch, Selah, while documenting everything on their blog, Sailing B + A. Allison and Bo, from Alabama, are both still working during their journey, and give a great perspective on how to tackle money making aboard. They've also started a way-cool program called Junior Captains, an educational program to involve elementary school children in sailing.

Meet Matt and Michelle, their two 9 & 10 year old boys, their two pups and a cat! This big crew is currently as we speak beginning their live-aboard sailing journey. Start following them early, as they're sharing everything about getting to know their boat and sailing, downsizing from land to boat, and all about the transition to home schooling aboard for their little ones.

This eccentric sailing family is composed of Patrick and Byn, their 19 year old son Jaedin, daughter Paris (17) and her boyfriend Jazz, and youngest daughter Abyni (15). This big crew also totes along an array of pups and kitties for the ride! The good news is that they've got plenty of room for all these crew and critters, because they're living aboard a trimaran with 5 staterooms! Their blog, ohsailyes, is full of charm, humor, honesty, and plenty of good sailing stories and advice. Plus, they often create DIY videos, or fun sailing or music videos for their youtube channel! Follow their blog and their videos and you'll feel like you've known these guys for years.

This young couple, Ben and Tambi, and their 5 year old daughter Molly have downsized their lives, quit their jobs and moved to the sea. Their plan is to live aboard in the Bahamas and the Caribbean, exploring while teaching Molly a different perspective of life, education, and seeing the world. Follow their blog to see stories, safety tips, and informational posts. Start following these guys now as their journey is just beginning and you're invited to ride along!

Lee and Rachel are a couple of newlyweds, sailing their 1980 Tayana 37, Satori on a once in a lifetime adventure. They got a deal when they bought Satori, and completely refitted her before setting sail, so they'll have plenty of good advice for the DIY-er. After Satori was ready for cruising, they set sail down the east coast, then to the Bahamas (where we met them and shared a few drinks and some good laughs!), then to Cuba, and have recently crossed through the Panama Canal. Lee is an experienced sailor, and often writes the posts on their site with great details and tips. Rachel takes great photos, is sewing fool, and a cookie baker extraordinaire. Also be sure to check them out on Instagram and Facebook for fun daily pics and videos!
We hope you enjoy these blogs as much as we do!
Thanks for reading,
Quinn, Ben and Ruca
