Staniel Cay is an island inside the Exuma Cays, a district of the Bahamas which is located about 75 miles south of Nassau. It is a small village, with just about 120 full time residents to run the local marinas, restaurants, hotels, charters, church, post office, bars and other businesses. The wonderful people in the village are very welcoming to visitors, and the island is known to be the “cruisers’ hub” of all of the Exuma Islands.

But what's the best thing about Staniel Cay?.... PIG BEACH!
The Pig Beach is an island inhabited by big wild pigs, that have grown tame (although a little pushy) from tourists constantly bringing them snacks to munch on. The pigs are known worldwide for swimming out to meet your boat in hopes of a yummy treat.
We left our pup, Ruca, behind when going to Pig Beach because we’d heard the pigs were large, and in charge of their beach. And a little hangry.
We pulled up in our dinghy, and just as promised, were greeted by a group of hungry fat pigs, nudging and oinking for something to eat. We got out of our boat and hand fed each of them some dog food (sorry Ruca) which they not so gently scarfed from our hands. The big guys lost interest as soon as we ran out of dog food, but the little piglets hung around for a few minutes, sniffing for scraps and having a drink from their mama.
Basically I died of cuteness overload when this piglet allowed me to pick him up, but then screeched in terrified oinks.
Ben booped this little guy on the nose, and they became immediate besties.
Bucket list item checked, and cuteness overload achieved!
Thanks for Reading,
Ben, Quinn and Ruca
