Ben, Ruca, S/V Wanderlust and I have been docked in Key Largo in the Upper Florida Keys for the past week at a small condo complex and marina because... we've got family in town! Hooray! Ben's family, including his sister, her husband and their kids, and Ben's parents, flew in to Key Largo to meet up with us for a few days of sunshine, sailing and beaching.
But... Mother Nature had other plans. The entire visit was covered with rain clouds, without a ray of sunshine in sight. Temperatures dropped to the low 70s, and we were dumped with SEVEN inches of rainfall, when usually Key Largo sees ONE inch in all of December. With the rainstorms and high winds, sailing was out of the question. How lucky are we, right? ;)

Thankfully, our family knows how to roll with the punches and we were able to have some awesome family time!
We kayaked, searching for critters along the shoreline in the shallows, and enjoyed a few dinghy rides. We spotted some monster iguanas, spiney lobsters, a few spotted rays, one shark, sea snails, and several fish!

We spent some wonderful quality time with our family, especially our neice and nephew, Zoe and Grevin, who are 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 respectively. Turns out, Uncle Ben and Aunt Quinn are a pretty big hit! :) Kid time included lots of coloring, piggy-back rides, and motorcycle video games. All things that Ben and I enjoy!

With very little beaching to do, we ate ourselves sick, and drank ourselves silly.

When out for pie and drinks (my new favorite combo), we got caught in the middle of a film crew for a French reality TV show! Basically, we're famous in France!

In the end, a little rain never hurt anyone. We LOVED having this chance to see our family and spend some much needed time together!

Thanks for visiting and all the laughs, Doyle & Jodi, Jen & Brandon, Grevin and Zoe! Next time, we'll call the weatherman ahead of time to reserve some sunshine!
Thanks for reading,
Quinn, Ben and Ruca
